Chess Club
The Chess Club will conduct a tournament beginning Friday, April 8 and will into May. Those students entering will be expected to attend all rounds win or lose. Signup sheets have been distributed to the classrooms and will be collected no later than Wednesday, April 6. Call Mr. Barrer if you have any questions.

Morning Drop Off Changes will take effect April 4th (upon returning from Spring Break) We are very fortunate to finally begin our addition and renovation project. I thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we make changes due to construction.
Dismissal will NOT change.
ACCESS TO THE YOUTH CENTER DURING CONSTRUCTION
You will still be able to access the Family Youth Center during the project by foot. There will be no parking available in the zones identified on the map.

Kickball Tryouts!!
4th grade tryouts are Monday, March 21st at 5:30pm by the gym.
3rd grade tryouts are Tuesday, March 22nd at 5:30pm by the gym.
This is all weather permitting. Also, please bring the girls physical
forms if they have not played a sport previously and bring your payment
if you have not already paid. Girls may not tryout if we have not received
both of these by that night.

TALENT SHOW DVD
If you want to order a DVD of the Talent Show at $5.00 a piece, please send in a note to the school office with your name, the number you wish to order, and a check made out to St. Jude School.
CYO Science Fair
On Saturday, March 5th, 2011 eight teams attended the CYO science fair. The students did a great job representing St. Jude.
The following students took part in the event:

Audrey Roland and Justin Brown advanced to the second round and Justin advanced to the third round. He was interviewed by many judges and was so nervous. It was amazing to watch Justin take away from the CYO Science Fair OVERALL OUTSTANDING 7TH GRADE BIOLOGICAL PROJECT AWARD (1st place in his division!) He had the best project from all the science fairs that participated. What an outstanding achievement!
Justin now has the opportunity to participate in the state competition with his science fair project.
VOLLEYBALL!
Congratulations to the 4th grade girls white volleyball team for the win over Little Flower. They advance to the next round in City Tournament today against Our Lady of Greenwood. Good luck girls. Go Raiders!
Jr. Rebel Theatre
Registration for the Roncalli Jr. Rebel Theatre Camps will begin on April 15th. There is a $50.00 Non-refundable deposit required at the time of registration. This is the 5th annual Junior Rebel Theatre Camp which is designed for children to have a hands-on, multi-faced theatre experience. Registration papers may be picked up in the school office or call Roncalli Performing Arts Center at 787-8277 ext. 249.
Mosquitoes!
The 5th grade will be having a Mosquito control program sponsored by the Marion County Health Department on Wednesday, March 16th. The program covers mosquito biology and disease control. It is interactive with students using microscopes, drawing and a short video.
Body Safety Program
On Tuesday, March 22nd, IMPD will be presenting the Body Safety Program. This program teaches children to recognize and avoid sexual abuse. A letter will be sent home with each student next week detailing the program. If you do not want your child to be included in this program, you must sign the form in the appropriate place and return it to school.
Pi Day
Monday, March 14th will be “PI Day”. It is a day of Math activities for students in grade 6 thru 8 with a contest to see who can memorize the most digits of “PI”.
Mad Science Week
Fish Fry
Don’t forget to join us for the Lenton Friday Fish Frys in the school cafteria. We begin serving at 4:30pm and end at 7:00pm. All are welcome.
Financial Aid
Financial Aid Packets for the 2011-2012 school year are now available in the school office as well as the Parish Center.

BOX TOPS TALK
The Box Tops for Education Contest was a BIG success!
We collected a total of 37,910 Box Tops!
Congratulations to the Following Classrooms!!
Mrs. Schutz’s Class – Room 15 - First Place in the contest.
They collected 3740 Box Tops!
Mrs. Schultz’s Class – Room 2 – Second Place in the contest.
They collected 3680 Box Tops!
Mrs. Kappel’s Class – Room 1 – Most Student Participation Award. 83% of the class brought in Box Tops!
These three classrooms will receive an
Out-Of-Uniform Day!
Thirty families brought in 350 or more Box Tops (350 Club). Four families brought in 700 or more Box Tops (700 Club). We had a drawing of all the names in both clubs. The Johnston Family won a $20 Gift Card to O’Charley’s.
Thank you to everyone who sent in Box Tops and Bonus Box Tops! Thanks to everyone who registered their Kroger Shopper’s Card! We are receiving extra money because of you! I really appreciate everyone taking the time to use the collection sheets! It makes my job so much easier!

Fish Fry
It's that time of year again!!! The St. Jude Youth Ministry will once again be sponsoring the Lenten Fish Frys on Fridays during Lent. We will be serving fish in the school cafeteria, starting at 4:30pm and ending at 7pm. All are welcome!!
We are also still looking for volunteers to help make each of these evenings the best possible experience for everyone who attends. We need help in the following areas: Set up, preparing food, serving food, clean up, providing desserts.
